An Interview with Timy

Firstly, we would just like to say a huge thank you for doing this interview. I have an array of questions, so lets jump straight in…

Q. So for all of those that don’t know you, could you introduce yourself?

A. Certainly, so I’m Timy and I am the owner and founder of Aston Wedding Cars by Timys.

Q. What was the idea behind Aston Wedding Cars?

A. I’d always had a love and desire to share my passion for Aston Martins within the Wedding Industry. Most wedding car companies only provide classic style cars. I wanted something different, something unique, yet still affluent but truly magnificent. Complimented alongside our 5* customer service and the only Aston Martin wedding car specialist in the u.k…. Aston Wedding Cars by Timys was born.

Q. How many Aston Martins do you own?

A. So technically I currently own 4 Aston Martins. However, the DB7 has just been gracefully retired and sold to a fellow Aston Martin collector.  I also have a classic 1970’s DBS which is currently undergoing a full nut & bolt restoration and complete engine rebuild. Finally I have 2 sister Vantage V8 Volante’s, one in glacier blue and the other frost white.

Q. Classic or Modern Aston Martin?

A. That’s a tough one! The classics are something utterly special and undeniably breathtaking. They are a completely different style of driving to modern day Astons and it’s like going back in time. As soon as you sit in that iconic drivers seat and fire up the cinematic V8, the butterflies in your stomach hit overdrive. Obviously with a modern Aston, you have the luxury, the speed, the technology, and more importantly the reliability. I think for an everyday car, there is no question, it has to be a modern Aston. However for a weekend car, you cannot beat the thrill of a classic Aston Martin. Luckily I have the best of both worlds.

Q. What’s your favourite Aston Martin?

A. Now that’s like asking you to choose your favourite child… so everytime I’m asked this question, everyone assumes I’ll say the DB5 of course. As beautiful as the DB5 is, I have to say for me, it’s a 1980’s V8 Vantage.

Q. What has been your favourite wedding?

A. Although it’s totally biased, the most memorable one for me was a good friend of mine who’s a fellow Aston Martin enthusiast & collector. He sadly lost his first wife and later remarried at the age of 77. The wedding was just an array of Aston Martins as far as the eye could see. The stipulation was no Aston, no invite! Haha. He was a member of the Aston Martin Owners Club, so a lot of his friends were fellow Aston Owners. It really was utterly thrilling seeing such a collection of classic & modern Aston Martins for Jim’s wedding.

Q. Any funny experiences?

A. There’s a couple that spring to mind. The first one was spending 20 minutes parked in a supermarket car park reassuring a groom who was having second thoughts. Thankfully he did go ahead with the wedding and they are still happily married with a son.

The second was a bride who suddenly realised she didn’t have anything blue when we arrived at the church. After 2 minutes of utter panic, I gave her my tie which was blue. She tied it around her upper leg underneath her wedding dress and went and got married. She did kindly give it me back at the reception.

Q. So we all know Aston Martin is synonymous with James Bond… which is your favourite Bond Movie and more importantly your all time favourite Bond Actor?

A. I have a confession… I’m not actually a huge James Bond Fan. I think I would have to go with In the Living Daylights and Timothy Dalton. However I do very much like Daniel Craig’s portrayal of the super suave sophisticated secret agent.

Q. What’s the future for Aston Wedding Cars?

A. The future looks bright, we are doing exceptionally well in both the Midlands and Cornwall. Our diary is filling up fast for 22, 2023 and reservations coming in already for 2024. We have our new frost white Aston Martin Vantage Volante arriving this month, which is very exciting. It will look fabulous next to our sister glacier blue Vantage. Hopefully the wedding industry is back on track after the ferocious impact of the pandemic. We truly love what we do.

Q. Any plans to add to your illustrious Aston Martin Collection?

A. Absolutely!!! You can never have too many Aston Martins. There’s an abundance of Astons I would love to own especially a DB5. However with a staggering one million pound price tag, I think I’ll have an awfully long wait!

Q. Away from Weddings and Aston Martins, where else may we find you?

A. Being an ex semi pro surfer, you’ll often find me surfing the cornish waves. I’m also an avid player of the financial markets.
