As the 2021 wedding season draws to a close, many new couples are welcoming 2022 to celebrate their big day. After all the uncertainty and unprecedented times of getting married during this relentless pandemic, we look forward to an abundance of weddings in the year ahead. In this months edition of our blog, we look back at some of those Royal Family magical wedding moments and the Royals love affair with Aston Martin.
Aston Martin Lagonda
First commenced in 1954, the Royal Families love affair with Aston Martin began with Prince Phillip and this quintessential 3 litre drophead coupe. Famously used by Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to open Britains first ever motorway, the M1 in 1959. Finished in Edinburgh Green, the Lagonda was recently sold in 2016 for £350,000.

Aston Martin DB6
Purchased in 1969 by Her Majesty as a 21st birthday gift for the Prince of Wales, this glorious Aston Martin DB6 defines royalty with history. Primarily used by Prince Charles throughout his ownership and most memorably photographed with the most influential, kind hearted and cherished Royal in history…. our beloved Princess Diana.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage & Aston Martin Virage
During the 1980’s and 1990’s HRH Prince Charles subsequently continued his love affair with two more Aston Martins. In 1989 The Price of Wales received his second Aston Martin, a gift from the Emir of Bahrain. Replicated from Timothy Daltons legendary Bond Movie In The Living Daylights, this swashbuckling Aston Martin V8 Vantage was finished in Balmoral Green.
Fast forward to 1994 and Princes Charles preferred mode of transport was once again an Aston Martin Virage Volante. Leased direct from Aston Martin for 15 years and endearing a special inbuilt leather jar which was custom made to keep sugar lumps for the Princes Ponies.

Aston Martin DB6
In 2011 we saw that monumental moment of Prince William marrying the delightful Catherine Middleton. Unarguably one of the most memorable and significant parts of the wedding, was watching the newlyweds drive Prince Charles Aston Martin DB6 from the Palace to Clarence House. A truly remarkable combination of glamour and royalty. Princess Diana would have been immensely proud.

Aston Martin DB10
2018 saw the marriage of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank and once again the royals choice of wedding car was this illustrious Aston Martin DB10. Made famous by Daniel Craig in the 24th Bond Movie Spectre. A rather special and moving scene as we witnessed Princess Beatrice gracefully helping her sister into the Aston Martin.

Aston Martin DB5 & Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Whilst filming the latest James Bond instalment No Time To Die and Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing, The Prince of Wales visited Pinewood Studios. During HRH tour he was introduced to two of the Aston Martins used in the new Bond Movie. The iconic Aston Martin DB5 and flamboyant Aston Martin V8 Vantage. A trio of British history all in one place.
